How to Get to San Blas
Everything starts in Panama City. There are two realistic ways into the San Blas archipelago, and which one you pick mostly decides how the first day of your charter feels. The fast option is a private charter flight of about 35 minutes to an airstrip near your yacht. The cheaper option is a 4x4 transfer of roughly 2.5 hours to Carti, then a launch out to the boat.
The private flight leaves after breakfast, crosses the mountains and lands on a strip in the islands, where the crew meets you with the dinghy. Aircraft are chartered whole: up to 2 people $500, up to 5 people $900, and up to 9 people $1,850 on the turboprop, one way, fixed for 2026. Luggage is limited by weight, and we confirm the exact allowance for your aircraft.
The road transfer starts very early, usually between 4 and 5 in the morning, because the mountain road to Carti is slow and the sea is calmest before midday. It is a real road with real curves, the launch ride can be wet, and travellers prone to motion sickness generally regret choosing it. It does, however, cost a fraction of the flight.
Whichever way you arrive, you pass through the Guna Yala checkpoint and pay the community entry fee, so bring your passport and cash in USD. From the airstrip or the launch dock you are aboard within minutes, and the crew handles the rest of the formalities with the local authorities.
